The Federal Police in Berlin cordoned off the Warsaw Bridge and the Warsaw Street Station on Thursday evening. As the police reported when asked by the Berliner Zeitung, a steel girder threatened to fall on an external elevator of the 140-meter-high Amazon Tower. As a spokeswoman explained, a belt broke when trying to rappel down a steel beam.
Tram, bus and S-Bahn services were also affected by the closure. The S-Bahn did not stop at the Warschauer Straße station. After an hour the all-clear was given. The steel beam was roped down without incident
