After an anonymous bomb threat, the famous Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow was evacuated for several hours on Sunday. „We received an anonymous tip about an explosive device,“ said a spokesman for the gallery of the state agency Tass. „Visitors and staff have been evacuated for their safety.“
After a search of the building for possible explosive devices, the all-clear was given in the late afternoon. „False alarm, the action is over,“ the agency Interfax quoted a spokesman for the gallery as saying.
Museum is an important part of Russian culture
The Tretyakov Gallery is Russia’s largest art museum alongside the Hermitage in St. Petersburg. The gallery’s holdings include around 140,000 exhibits.
